My iPod Touch 2nd Gen didn't come with a dock adapter when I bought it on eBay, and I emailed the Kicker company asking if the Apple Brand dock adapter fits the ik500, but they didn't know.
My question is: Does the Apple Brand dock adapter fit the ik500, because I don't really want to buy a 3-pack of adapters just to find out that they don't fit.
Thank You

I really want to buy one of these dock/speakers, but one thing has been making me wait before buying it. Between my brother and my boyfriend at the time, I think the three of us kept Carfonics (a local car stereo place) in business.
I started in 1985 with my first Alfa (red '76 Spider Veloce), and then competed regionally with two of my cars, a Corvette (silver '84) and then a Porsche 928S (silver '81). I sold the Mustang GT Convertible (red '84) that came between those cars quickly because it didn't hold the sound in as well.
Wayne at Carfonics always hand built my custom speaker boxes, and I remember him being slightly insulted when I opted to buy the Kicker box instead of a new custom install for the second Alfa (silver '86 Quadrifoglio). It's not like I was going to compete anymore (it was another convertible after all), and there wasn't much space for anything special. I'm sure I spent the money saved on a new deck, anyway. :-P
Those were the days; I am sure I must have suffered some hearing loss from them, too. ;-)

David, I should have known that you would have been into car stereo, too! Welcome to the club. I was helping some of Dallas' earliest adopters of this california trend in the early 80s.
We were ripping cars apart to the bare shells and turning them into rolling jukeboxes.
Even did a car with George Baris of the batmobile and monkees mobile fame.
Every cent I had went into this obsession back then.
I was even an early contributor to Car Audio and Electronics magazine shooting pictures at some of the first national car stereo contests.
And who knew a little company in Stillwater Oklahoma would hit it big on the car audio scene with their speakers and then electronics, especially with a redneck alias of "kicker."

Judie – a closet car stereo nut?<br

Next question: Are the display and knob lit up constantly while the unit is on full power? If this is used as an alarm clock, then you wouldn't want them lit up in the same room as you when you're trying to sleep.

Thank you. OK, when the iK500 is in standby mode and the alarm goes off on the touch, it will <strong>not</strong> play through the speaker box; when the iK500 is turned on and the alarm goes off, it <strong>will</strong> play through the speaker box.

Good question, and not one I would have thought of!

OK, when the iK500 is in standby mode and the alarm goes off on the touch, it will not play through the speaker box; when the iK500 is turned on and the alarm goes off, it will play through the speaker box.

By: Chris Magnusson

<guid

How does the alarm function of the Nano or Touch work in conjunction with this?
My current alarm clock is a 5g iPod Video (whose primary function is as a backup harddrive) sitting in a dock that is connected to a seven-year-old set of 2.1 Cambridge Soundworks speakers. I need the speakers on in order for the alarm to sound through them so that's a power suck. There's also about 20' of cable in this setup. So I'd like to replace it with a single-unit device that can turn on when it receives an audio signal on the dock connector if possible.

Nice!

How does the alarm function of the Nano or Touch work in conjunction with this?

My current alarm clock is a 5g iPod Video (whose primary function is as a backup harddrive) sitting in a dock that is connected to a seven-year-old set of 2.1 Cambridge Soundworks speakers.
