Nah, just kidding, I did that already a couple of weeks ago. :) I now use the iphone exclusively and am looking forward to getting an official one when they launch here in Oz next month.

Nice article, Wayne. 1) If you or your company has a large Blackberry investment.
2) If you need Exchange support (for now, but likely to change in a month)
3) If you absolutely MUST have a tactile, physical keyboard.
4) If you need GPS service (but also rumoured in the upcoming iPhone).
5) If you're heavily invested in an MS music scheme (plays-for-sure, Zune)
6) If there's any other specialized app that you require that isn't currently on the iPhone.
Although much of this is generalized, it all needs to be considered when evaluating a potential change. I love working with my iPhone, and I have similar usage specs (200+ email a day, few SMS, music needs), but I have to admit that manually deleting 200+ messages is a bit tiring (although that too is supposed to change with the new firmware release).
Having said that, I can come up with many many reasons (many of them already stated) for making the switch. I especially agree with your last point, Wayne. I think that the software development shift is also likely to impact Windows Mobile development, although probably not as strongly (at least initially). It really isn't that far a leap and the "cool" factor often gets developers interest to peak.
I'm sure folk can come up with other considerations, and I have to say it's great to see many of them collected here!

Although I’m an iPhone user, there are still a couple of reasons to hold off or possibly avoid the iphone:

1) If you or your company has a large Blackberry investment.<br

My WM phone is gathering dust on my desk while I wait for the Canadian iPhone launch! I have been thinking about a Blackberry but, for me, there is just no point anymore for a couple of the reasons you wrote so concisely about.

Fantastic article Wayne! My WM device was gone a week or two after I got the iPhone but the numbers are people like you who have, thus far, been carrying two devices is pretty large- over 30% of US iPhone users according to one survey.
I imagine more and more people are going to be doing what you just did in the coming months- especially after pieces like yours.

Great piece Wayne!
