I'm very disappointed in the build quality of the RIM products. It's a three year plus old unit these things should have long since been resolved. Does anyone know if RIM is going to address these issues?

I've got the dust and the squeak (2nd device in two weeks). The dust under your screen is something that can only be resolved by taking the unit apart, taking the screen off the device, blowing the dust off, reapplying the screen, taping it into place (thus sealing it) and then reassembling the device. Its not something that end users are encouraged to do.
I hope this helps.

You have a defective unit, no doubt. Replacing the unit is the best course of action. If I lay it down on the bed, or it bumps on the car seat, it shuts down, flahing red and then tries to reboot after a few minutes. Is this a issue with all curves? Mine does not creak (yet) and so far except for the "shutdowns" I have enjoyed it. The cellular company is sending me out a new one as they don't know what is wrong with my current one (it is less than 7 days old). Does anyone else have any similar problems? Also, what do they say regarding the "dust under the screen"? Is there a fix for it such as compressed air sprays?

why does the bb8300 curve cut off with the smallest of small bumps? Aside from a few other annoying problems and dimwitted B'Berry marketing strategies (Mac OS users have to buy 3rd party software to backup) both phones show a tendency to discharge completely for no reason, making them useless. This has happened to both our fully-charged phones in a matter of hours! We are not impressed and would switch to iPhones if that AT&T contract wasn't mandatory. In our business these B'Berrys won't last long.

My wife and I both got Verizon 8300 B’Berry Curves at the same time. I thought maybe I was just being really picky when I noticed the creaking on my 8300 Curve. The final straw for me was the dust collecting under the screen. It drove me crazy!!!! I decided to switch to an LG Voyager after that. I think RIM should really pay attention to build quality on their products because I'm not a business user and don't need the push email. I bought the phone for its awesome design but as a consumer I expected a high quality product for the high price. If they are really trying to take on Apple then they should definitely pay more attention to details like this. Apple would never sell consumers a $400 phone that feels like it's held together with with paper clips and glue!!!

Thank you for this post!!!! Why bother spending extra money to build your products with good quality materials when you know they are going to sell anyway?

It sounds like RIM are getting a bit complacent.
