I finally received an XO! The laptop designed to be a medium for education in developing countries. I will take some time with the little guy before offering my impressions or even a review. I’m late to the party and great reviews are already out there. The XO took five months to find me but I’m happy to finally be able to have a look at it. When the Fedex guy arrived at my house with that small box, I thought OLPC had shipped me a battery pack. The laptop is much smaller than I expected but heavier than I thought it would be.
It has a nice rubberized edge and I really like it. It feels very sturdy and considering the context in which it is designed to operate its only normal. It does feel very unique and it makes an impression on anyone who sees it.
Sugar loaded without any problems, it asked for my name and loaded up very nicely. However, it took me an afternoon to get it going on my home wireless network. There are bugs right out of the box but I will tell more about this in my review. So enjoy the unboxing photos while I prepare a more in-depth look into this very unique device! I’m sorry for the underexposed photos: I was having problems with my Nikon.

Interesting. I am wondering if anyone has ripped sugar out and put regular Gnome on it yet? I tried it at the Ohio Linuxfest and it was VERY confusing to me. I sure don’t see how it’s going to be easier for someone in another country to use Sugar.
