You can pick up a prepaid phone, fill it with some time, then while on vacation you at least have a backup phone. This Nokia will work on a post-paid T-Mobile SIM. In order to get the rebate I'm quite sure you will have to put some time onto the phone. If you want to use this phone on a carrier other than T-Mobile - you'll need to get it unlocked (the phone is locked so it will only accept T-Mobile -- any other SIM will product "Sim rejected" or similar error message).
