Happy Birthday Christopher G.!

No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you; Gear Diary is fortunate, because we get to have two team member’s virtual birthday parties in a row. :-D

Please join me in wishing a very Happy Birthday to Christopher Gavula!

Happy Birthday Christopher!

From the very beginning, Chris entered our site with a BANG. His first post was about technology busting the Detroit mayor, and he hasn’t stopped sharing his wicked laser sharp insights since…

Chris is passionate about mobile devices, and you can almost feel his frustration when he writes about the direction (or lack thereof) of Palm and Windows Mobile – usually in the comments sections of new device posts. He calls it like he sees it, and he is quick with both praise and criticism when its deserved.

Some of my favorite Gavula posts include The Upgrade and the Hand-me-down: A Weekend Project, So You Want to Buy a Car on The Internet…, and When Good Opinions Go Bad. If you happen to live in a Gulf state, and you see a 2008 Scion xB Gold Rush Mica Release 5.0 zip by, then you might have caught a live glimpse of him.

Chris has been an important part of our behind the scene gabbing, as well as our more public GearChats including Windows Mobile…Yeah We Went There and The Demise of Print Media and a Possible Reason for the Amazon Kindle. We are fortunate to have Chris on our team, and we look forward to hearing much more from him!

Please join me in wishing Chris a very Happy Birthday and an even happier next year! :-D

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford

Happy Birthday Chris. How old are you now anyway?

  • Christopher Gavula

    Thanks guys!

Actually, truth be told, I’m lost and wandering around in my mid-40s.

Some days it seems a whole lot longer – probably because I’ve been in the tech business full time since I was 14 starting out as a COBOL programmer back in the late 70s (crud – that’s really dating myself, isn’t it?).

    Such an old dude. ;-)

  • Christopher Gavula

Yup – old enough to remember Disco the first time around! :-P

Well I do, too – even if I was only in 5th grade or so. ;-)

What’s disco? My only memory of it is watching it on TV :P

    Before digital HD?!?

Well, at least the Bell Bottom jeans didn’t come back around (yet). I remember tripping over those going up and down stairs! Ugh!
