I know I did this on my T-Mobile prepaid and I think I read that it was possible on AT&T. What I know you cannot do is take the phone from one carrier to another without unlocking. Prepaid phones make excellent backup / replacement phones for people who break their regular (post paid) phone and don't want to shell out a few hundred bucks for an out of contract replacement. I think the answer is yet. I know I did this on my T-Mobile prepaid and I think I read that it was possible on AT&T.

What I know you cannot do is take the phone from one carrier to another without unlocking.

Prepaid phones make excellent backup / replacement phones for people who break their regular (post paid) phone and don’t want to shell out a few hundred bucks for an out of contract replacement.
