Joe Stirt sent the link to a product which made me do a double take: the Vilcus Dactyloadapter Circuit Tester. Dactyl meaning Finger, for those of you who didn’t catch it;  Circuit Tester meaning you plug it in and take the ensuing shock…on purpose. Ummm…okay.

Vilcus dactyloadapter was developed specially for people who enjoy closing electrical circuits with their own fingers.

Many people get a kick out of direct contact with an AC power supply.

To that end, people normally use U-shaped fragments of bare wire, paper clips or even common metal forks.

All these gimmicks are unreliable, short-lived and, most importantly, tend to cause short-circuits or fires.

Would you consider it overly judgmental of me if I said that this looks like a freaking weird kink? I mean, who does this?! But whatever floats your boat…I guess? :-P

The idea that you might find a group of like minded shock-seekers kind of blows my mind; but if that’s your thing, then you can get this power strip and have at it. You’ll understand if I decline your invitation to the party…

The warning on Think Geek pretty much sums it up:

WARNING!
While we at ThinkGeek are completely convinced of the health benefits of finger contact with high-voltage electricity… not all of our living test subjects for the Vilcus felt the same way. Playing with electrical sockets is damn dangerous and our attorneys don’t recommend it. In any case ThinkGeek, Inc. and all of it’s myriad subsidiaries are in no way responsible for your stupidity if you stick your fingers in a high-voltage wall socket and harm yourself in any way.
