Walter Mossberg has just published his review of the new HP Touchsmart computer. He likes that it has plenty of memory (4 GB), ships with a 64 bit Windows Vista OS and contains large icons that helped with the interface. The touch interface garnered tepid praise and the invariable comparison to the Apple multi-touch interface. On the negative side were the four times that his review unit crashed, the sluggish Vista startup times and annoying continuous security pop-ups. Plus Walt knows the Apple multitouch interface. The Apple multitouch interface is a friend of his. And the HP Touchsmart interface is no Apple multitouch interface. He also bangs the computer mightily for coming pre-loaded with all manners of craplets which he describes as those irritating programs and come-ons that you didn’t order.
