New Hallmark Card – you turn the crank – the card comes to life & plays music

Hallmark just introduced a line of cards that are powered by a little hand crank in the lower right corner of the card. Turn the crank and the card springs to life. There are two versions – one has sound and motion ($7.99) and the other just has the motion ($5.99). These cards are a bit heavier (a lot heavier) than your typical birthday card – so if you buy one you’ll need to put on a few extra stamps to make sure it routes through the mail properly. YouTube video of the card in motion is on the next page.

Here’s another card that is sold that offers full sound and motion when you turn the crank. This one is more appropriate for a children’s birthday party (or an adult who has a Peanuts obsession).

As you can see these cards are a bit thick.

They are a bit pricey too – $7.99 for the version that has motion AND audio.

Curious how they work? Check out my quick demonstration video:

May I know if these cards available online Wayne?

I’m not sure if they’re available online. I bought mine at the Hallmark Store. I happen to have a store that is a short distance from my house so I rode down there Saturday and picked one up (I spotted the card initially in a review on Boing Boing – Gadgets).

It’s a really neat card — I’m not sure on what the postage to mail it would be.

Thanks for the tip Wayne! They’re pretty neat and I’d like to get some but I doubt if they’ll ever reach my country. :)
