SeeqPod is a musical search engine that scours the Internet looking for playable MP3 files . Once these files are found, SeeqPod indexes and presents them for search and playback. It’s a pretty interesting way to listen to music online. I’m not quite sure how they get away with this legally other than the songs aren’t hosted on any one server, you cannot download files and all SeeqPod does is provide a link to the songs located elsewhere. They’ve just added what they refer to as Podlists. Essentially these are playable lists of music that their search engine has found. For example if you click on SeeqPod Top 20 you’ll see the list of songs shown on the next page.
Here’s the list of music that SeeqPod has defined as their top 20. By grouping them together in one list they now save the user from having to determine what songs they’d like to search for and ultimately listen to. All of these songs are available to stream via your web browser which means both Windows and Mac are supported.

One of the options you have instead of downloading the music, is to click on the “Buy” link which takes you to Amazon where you can browse the list of albums by the artist (though not necessarily the exact song you were listening to).

There’s an interface for the iPhone which will allow you to search for and stream music. You can access pre-defined playlists though searching for them is rather tedious on the iPhone interface.

SeeqPod is an interesting way to listen to music that you may not otherwise have been exposed to. Since it plays through your browser, you can search and start playing music from any Internet connected computer.
