It looks like fans of the iPhone 3g in UK won’t have to wait in line after all. The O2 web site has an online order form where their customers can place an order for deliver on July 11. Both the 8GB and 16GB model are available for order (black only). These apparently will be shipped unactivated as the instructions for the site clearly indicated that you need to tether to your Mac or PC to finish activating. More info on the next page. UPDATE: Looks like O2 may be sold out. Their site does appears to be accepting orders only for the 8 GB but when you attempt to look in your cart it is empty.
Here’s the price list from the O2 web site. Note that both the 8GB and 16 GB phone are available for ordering and that delivery is promised for July 11.

Unlike the US where it is anticipate that all purchasers must activate at point of purchase, O2 is advertising that you can activate yourself from your own computer. Note the warning that if you try to unlock it – that it may become inoperable.

If I’m reading this right, the 16GB iPhones are not available.

Yes you’re right – it doesn’t seem like they are accepting 16GB orders. I don’t see where they’ve excluded them from ordering online.
I wonder if Apple has built in a way to “brick” phones automatically now due to the subsidy. Will be interesting to watch.
