From the author's description (or perhaps his/her rumor rendition), it sounds as if many of your Kindle concerns have been (or will be) addressed.
I also agree with you about the Kindle's larger screen. I've also noticed on my iTouch that "swiping" to move ahead or back a page often brings up the ereader's toolbar instead.

@Judie: I read somewhere yesterday, that Amazon is reading version 2 for the Christmas season. The complete works of each author can be downloaded to the Kindle for only $4.79. As each of these files is quite a bit larger than the file size for a single title, the download times are a bit longer; but isn't it worth it?

And, regarding Kindle book pricing, if you are interested in classics look for the Complete works of Shakespeare, Mark Twain, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Dickens, Arthur Conan Doyle, Jules Verne, Edgar Allan Poe, the Brothers Grimm, Robert Louis Stevenson, Herman Melville, Chekov, Jack London and many more. 1. Larger screen
2. Less expensive book downloads
Since I don't yet own my own Kindle, I would be out the initial purchase price should I decide to buy one. But once purchased, I would enjoy less expensive books. I think I could quickly reap a savings, at the rate I read. ;-)

@BillChapman – I like reading on my touch, I like having access to my previous eReader purchases in this manner, but there are two things that I find very compelling about the Kindle:<br

Personally, I like it.
But, I also like the Kindle, quite a bit. As hikerpa stated, after using it for awhile (especially in its case) I no longer have problems with hitting the wrong buttons. Also, the keyboard no longer bothers me, and I never seem to find myself in dark places where the lack of ambient lighting would create problems.

@Judie: Now that there is an ereader app (free) for the iPhone/iTouch, and all ereader books you’ve purchased are available for download, what do you think of the reading experience on that platform? I like the concept, I hate the different formats of the books and as I buy paperbacks, $10 is still too much considering I can't pass the book on to my friends to read.
I agree with Judie about the physical deportment of hte Kindle but understand that given it is electronic it might be more important to look at the screen and the battery life as the most important factors to consider..
Very interesting and I'll follow the trend, but in the meantime Mobipocket rules and fits on all my current devices... :-)

I’ve been using these since they started back with the Franklin version and there was even one before then.. I really like automatic delivery of the NY Times as well as Time and Newsweek. I'm not opposed to paying for electronic copies of those magazines if it saves me from quickly reading them and then wasting paper by tossing them in the landfill.
Funny how we all pretty much liked/disliked the same thing and none of us read the others' review.

Nobody was a bigger doubter than me about the Kindle. I kept reading about it and was really won over once I realized that the books weren't really to expensive and delivery was instant. I've had the kindle since the end of March and I would have to say it's one of my favorite gadgets. The buttons are no longer an issue. I don't even have to think about it when turning pages or going back to a previous page. I very rarely hit the buttons by mistake. I don't leave the wireless on unless I'm using it and I easily get well over a week on the battery life and I read several hours a day. I bought the Mighty Bright Flex light from Amazon and now reading in the dark is a breeze. My only gripe is not all books are available in the kindle format. I'm hoping that eventually more publishers and authors will make their books available.

There is something about having a library full of books that I have read and hope to read that makes me feel like an educated, successful adult. (If I could have Rex Harrison's double-decker library from My Fair Lady, I could die happy.)
Electronic books feel like consumables to me, rather than collectibles.
There is one use I can imagine for the Kindle: being able to read while traveling. Currently I try to take paperbacks and leave them along the way, but as I finished a book on the Kindle, I could order up another one and not have to look for a bookstore. But couldn't I do the same thing with a laptop or my HTC Advantage, for that matter?

I am as much of a gadget fiend as the next gal, but I just can’t get excited about digital books as a concept.

There is something about having a library full of books that I have read and hope to read that makes me feel like an educated, successful adult.
