I wish I could take credit for this find, but I found it over at iPhone Alley. They reference a cool site called BillShrink.com, where you can either manually specify your cell bill, or have it import your bill auto-magically from your carrier and perform an analysis on it. The analysis will tell you what your spending, where you’re spending it, and more importantly, what the BEST rate plan is for your account, on your carrier.
I’ve got 3 numbers on my account, and we spend about $220-$230 a month, depending on text and data usage. I don’t think the analysis is 100% accurate, as I KNOW some of the numbers it threw into Any Time Minutes were, in fact, Mobile to Mobile Minutes. However, yes… we do seem to yack our heads off at my house.
If you’re considering a change to your cell account (like purchasing a new iPhone 3G or other cool device…maybe a BB Bold/Thunder or Samsung Instinct), you might find the Cell Phone Advisor at BillShrink.com pretty interesting, and quite useful. At the very least, its going to suggest a halfway decent change to your account that might just save you some cash in the long run.

Now it wants me to spend $60 more per year.
No thanks.
My plan now. Verizon, 2 lines, $35 for the first and $20 for the second. No data and no messages.

@markntravis – FYI… I’ve responded to billshrinkguy privately, letting him know that your tests, my run, above, and one by another GD Team Member didn’t go well. It looks as though they need to do some debugging…

Christopher – Site is working as it should. It looks like in your post you are pointing to the wrong page. You are pointing to a page that you don’t get to until you input something on the homepage.
If people are getting the iPhone and want to know what plan to get the site is http://www.billshrink.com/iphone this will only show iPhone plans and will pick the right one based on your usage. Now of course it might cost more than your existing plan (let’s face it, it’s expensive) but that’s all the choices you have with the iPhone.
@markntravis We don’t “WANT” to make you spend more per year, we are merely showing you all the available plans that you can get today from the carriers. Sounds like you are on a great plan, but one that doesn’t exist anymore. $35 and $20 for the seconds sounds great (how many min do you get?). Our system configures thru 10 Million plan combinations from the 4 carriers and puts out the lowest possible plan package (plan + add ons) that are available.
Christopher I would expect nothing less that you and the guys at GD are on the best plan possible
The masses I doubt are as methodical and informed as you.
BTW, you can contact us at info@billshrink.com if you have any questions.
Thanks!

We get 500 shared minutes. Unlimited night and weekend minutes with 4000 IN calling minutes. No long distance. No text. No data. We rarely use more than 10 minutes a month.

@markntravis Wow.. 10 min a month. You are definitely on an older plan but a great one for your usage. Our site definitely works, there is no better plan than what you have. You got a great deal.

We have them for an emergency mostly with the odd call here and there. We signed up with Verizon because Cingular gave us a lousy signal at home. That was 4 or 5 years ago I think.
