Curious what the insides of the new iPhone 3G will look like? Well the folks over at iFixit.com have obtained a new 3G iPhone and done what I think you would consider to be a true “unboxing”. They didn’t stop at the plastic wrapping and cardboard though. They took the whole damn 3g iPhone apart. Pictures follow.

Display assembly separated from the unit. Unlike the last iPhone, iFixit reports that the LCS and glass covering are separate components. In the prior model they were GLUED together (yuk). This discovery should make 3G iPhone repairs much easier.

And happily the battery isn’t soldered to the main board – making replacement easier (but still not EASY or self-service)
