The latest iTunes version 7.7 is now available for download. Among other things this is the version includes App Store (though you can’t see a menu choice for apps – search for an app such as “AIM” and you’ll see more selections and a way to view the entire app store) and have the code embedded in it to unbrick the new overhyped 3G iPhone as discussed in this confidential Rogers memo of a few weeks back. All users can obtain this by selecting “Check for updates” from within iTunes. Version 7.7 also contains a free download for iPhone or Touch users that allows control of iTunes playback from anywhere in your home. Ironically enough this new free application is available without needing to purchase a new 3G iPhone! Update: Gizmodo is reporting the App store is active for those with OS 2.0. Update part 2: MobileMe is now activating on my machine.
