You absolutely need a thick thick skin to keep at it very long. My experience was that the best services were also the biggest (Match). The worst were the freebies and/or cheap ones. But just like you can meet someone in line for a restroom --- I found there's no one size fits all / easy answer for dating. I found online was a great way to meet people.
