This is the iPhone line in Oswego IL at the AT&T store on Rt 34 (Odgen Ave) where our very own Chris Spera is camped out for an iPhone. He takes this pictures of the “First Couple” of Oswego – aka – first in line – aka Chris & Joan. They got there at 8pm last night…oh and it POURED last night. Chris is number 21. There are 24 people in line. More pictures on the next page — including someone you might know from last year’s iPhone launch in New York City (yes, it’s #1 line sitter Greg Packer).
Of course today is launch day for the iPhone — and AT&T stores across the country have been busy stocking up as evidenced by this YouTube video:
Chris Spera reports that theres a Starbucks in front of the ATT store in Oswego and Mike’s been working the line providing drinks, food and trash removal since 5am. Mike is the shizzle for this morning’s Buck’s supply!

Here’s the line in New York City as reported by Philip Elmer-DeWitt of Apple 2.0. Remember Greg Packer from last year? He was line sitter #1. He’s back – but not for an iPhone. Seems he was only waiting for a free Bon Jovi T-Shirt (which it looks like he received).

I waited in line at my local O2 store here in the UK from 7.30am and came away empty handed. Their systems were down and so they haven’t been able to activate any phones. My colleague, who was about 6 people ahead of me, got one, but it’s not working right now and they’re not sure when they’ll be able to get it up and running.
I’m going to hold fire and go to an Apple store in a few days.
