foofbag and Cable Turtle from the foofshop

Posted on 14 July 2008 by

Looking for a way to keep your Apple laptop or iPod/iPhone comfy and cozy all winter long?
foof has the answer with their line of foofbags and foofpods available in a host of colors and patterns.

We ordered the “Black as Night” corduroy foofbag for our black MacBook. The bag is made of 100 percent cotton widewale corduroy outside with a Sherpa fleece inner lining.

It fits very snugly around the MacBook and looks very smart going in and out of my backpack’s laptop compartment. Other foofbags sizes fit the MacBook Air, 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro models. (And for those of you still using a 12-inch iBook I hear foof makes a bag to fit those as well.)

Other materials used in the different style foofbags include anti-pill fleece, acrylic tuft, 100 percent Irish tweed wool, high-quality faux fur, pinwale corduroy, soft and robust denim, handprinted cottons, kimono polyester and Japanese cotton.

The foofbag arrives in a simple clear plastic sleeve and no instruction manual. None needed though, as all you do is slip foofbag out of the plastic sleeve and over your laptop. That’s all.
The company started in Dublin, Ireland in mid-2004 with a foofbag for the iBook and followed that with their first foofpod for iPod users. foof products are now made in Australia from imported fabrics from Ireland, Scotland, England, Japan, Korea and China.

No neoprene, rubber or foam anywhere here – just a niche handmade product for consumers who like their fabrics real and furnishings simple.

For those of you wondering about the odd name, according to their website foof is pronounced like hoot or food and is the nickname of the person who creates foof products.

Another item that was included with our package from foof is a round rubbery Cable Turtle (blue was our color of choice) about the size and design of a yo-yo that is intended to help control the spaghetti of wires in our high-tech lifestyles.

On my desk at work I use the Cable Turtle to wind my headphone cable when not in use. It also works especially well with Earbuds or other earphones as well as those thinner laptop charging cords up to one meter in length.

Pricing for foofbags is 36 bucks (20 for a foofpod) and the Cable Turtle is a mere 10 dollars.
Ordering info as well as all color and style availability can be obtained from their website at www.foofshop.com.
