Avoid shocks with this handheld static discharger

Summer in New England is nearly over. With only a month of hard core vacation season left, pretty soon it will be time for fall. That means colorful leaves, pumpkin pie, apple picking and lots of static discharge. Even if you’ve never had a problem with static, you may find this $12 handheld discharger useful. Attach it to your key ring and before you touch metal — use it to discharge your pent up energy. I’m not sure it’s professional enough for those who need to discharge electricity prior to working with sensitive electronics. For anyone tired of getting zapped on the way into the car it looks as if it does the trick quite nicely!

isn’t the point of static electricity being annoying that it normally startles you? unlessyou zap every single metal surface before you touch it (and what about when you accidentally brush across something?), which, to be honest, most people won’t do, this is…useless.
