Here’s a great idea for anyone with little kids. It’s a GPS with wireless backup camera for a super affordable $269! The manufacturer is Nextar who is also promoting the KIDS AND CARS safety awareness program which their navigation system clearly can assist with. The included back-up camera provides a clear rear view for up to seven feet behind your car and increases the safety for children. The navigational system has a 4.3 inch color touch-screen display, text to speech, 1.6-million points of interest, 2D/3D map view and the ability to play MP3’s. The system includes preloaded maps and directions for 50 US states and 10 Canadian provinces.

The camera easily attaches to the top or bottom of the rear license plate.
The unit comes with built-in NAVTEQ(R) maps of all 50 US states and 10 Canadian provinces. Maps indicate 1.6-million points of interest. For safety and convenience, if the driver makes a wrong turn, the system will automatically recalculate a new route.
Other features include an address book capable of storing up to 300 addresses, both 2D and 3D viewing modes, day and night modes (night features additional lighting on the screen for easier viewing), SD card slot for added memory, MP3 playing and picture viewing capability, and a built-in rechargeable Li-Ion battery. The included wiring connects to one of the vehicle’s backup lights. When the vehicle is put into reverse and the backup lights come on, the camera automatically activates. Through Wi-Fi(TM) technology, whatever image is on the navigation screen at that time is over ridden by what the camera sees. By looking at the screen before taking their foot off the brake, the driver can see if anyone or anything is behind the vehicle and in danger of being struck.
