Just four years after installing 5 fully automatic and self-cleaning toilets (which cost $5 million), the city of Seattle has sold them via online auction for … $12,000. Turns out that the automatic toilets did little more than attract drug users and other people looking for 10 minutes of privacy in the middle of the city. You may remember that I wrote about New York City’s automatic toilet about 6 months ago. They’re actually very cool (in a high tech way). Worth millions? Not so much. The insides are wet (due to the automatic cleaning after each use), the line to use New York’s single toilet during mid-day rush is too lengthy. And did I mention the inside is too wet? Here’s the original review of New York’s automatic potty which include a YouTube video of my visit.
