Secret Flawless Diamond Giveaway Begins; Armpits Cower In Fear

Ladies, picture this…you are applying deodorant first thing in the morning, and in your half awakened state you manage to scratch a deep gash across your armpit. Instead of welling tears and threats to sue, you instead start jumping up and down like a joyous loon. The reason? You have just become the grand prize winner in the Secret Flawless Diamond Giveaway, and now you can exchange the faux diamond that scratched you for a real one…worth $15,000.

I was intrigued by this contest when it rolled into my email this morning via a Daily Candy update, but after digging a little deeper I am a bit confused. The teaser picture on the Secret giveaway site clearly shows diamonds, the Daily Candy email said “diamonds”, but after reading the rules I believe that there is either only one diamond, or there are nine diamonds…it’s more than a little bit ambiguous.

Side note: Even if it is “flawless” as the Secret giveaway site’s teaser states, $15K for a single carat just seems excessive; give me two or three carats of a really gorgeous but slightly flawed diamond, instead. Not that I think I have a real chance of winning, anyway.

The contest is worth a mention, but I wonder what the odds of being that grand prize winner will be.

The source of my confusion:

Prizes: ONE (1) GRAND PRIZE: A Diamond. Carat, cut, color, and clarity determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Approximate Retail Value (”ARV”): $15,000. FIVE (5) FIRST PRIZES: $500 Visa gift card. ARV: $500. FIVE (5) SECOND PRIZES: $250 gift card that can be used toward the purchase of dinner at a 5-star restaurant. ARV: $250. FIVE HUNDRED (500) THIRD PRIZES: $50 Visa gift card. ARV: $50. SEVEN HUNDRED (700) FOURTH PRIZES: Five (5) movie tickets awarded in the form of an AMC gift card. ARV: $50. FIVE THOUSAND (5,000) FIFTH PRIZES: A 2.6oz. Secret deodorant. ARV: $4.29. Terms and conditions of gift cards apply. No cash or other substitution, assignment or transfer of any prizes permitted, except by Sponsor, who reserves the right to substitute a prize or prize component with cash or another prize of comparable or greater value. Winners are responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and fees associated with prize receipt and/or use. Prizes will be awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied offered by Sponsor. Odds of winning a prize depend on the number of prizes available divided by the number of eligible Instant Win Game plays. TOTAL ARV OF ALL PRIZES: $100,200. Limit: One (1) prize per person.

Distribution of Grand Prize Winners: There will be a total of nine (9) Grand Prize winners randomly distributed between the purchase and free methods of entry. Of the nine (9) Grand Prizes, Administrator will randomly select a number of Game Pieces to be distributed in packages of specially-marked Secret Flawless 2.6oz. or 1.6oz. Invisible Solid products and the remaining number of winners will be selected in a random drawing from all eligible entries received through the free method of entry as described in Section 4(b) above. Odds: The odds of winning a Grand Prize through a product purchase depend on the number of Game Pieces randomly selected to be distributed in product packages; and the odds of winning a Grand Prize through the free method of entry depend on the number of Grand Prize winners randomly selected to be chosen through a random drawing from among all eligible entries received during the Promotion Period.

From the terms on the Secret Website: “No purchase necessary. A purchase of any kind will not increase your chances of winning.
