SanDisk today is releasing a 32 GB Compact Flash memory card that boosts throughput speed by 50 % (from 20 mb/s to 30 mb/s). In their press release SanDisk says this speed boost is great for professional photographers – and I’m certain that it is. The extra space is also sorely needed by anyone shooting video.

With the wide availability of affordable camera’s offering fast continuous shot modes – extra data speed is helpful to everyone. Especially to people like me who take 30 pictures of the same scene hoping that one will come out halfway decent.

Since the pictures can only move on the card as fast as the memory will move – faster is always better. The new card is scheduled for an October 2008 release and suggested retail will be $299.
