In what appears to be a first person report of the LA Train Crash which left at least 18 users dead and 135 seriously injured, Pinstack forum member ICE44 used the data connection on his Blackberry Curve 8310 smartphone to post a forum message requesting help notifying his wife that he was ok.
~via 8310 (wap.pinstack.com)~I left work to head to my parents house in Moor Park for the weekend….jumped on the train…feel asleep….got woken up by a loud bang as I flew forward 3 feet into the lady sitting in front of me….
train hit another train head on….tons of injuries and deaths…
I thank GOD that I am still here …..i’m sitting here waiting to be taken to the hospital….i’m what they consider “OK” meaning they will attend to me once the others who need attention no ware taken care of….
According to messages posted on the Pinstack board, congested towers in the area of the emergency were not allowing text and voice but data connections were maintained. Several forum members responded to the request for assistance by notifying the family that ICE44 was ok.
