Twittelator Pro 1.3 has just been released. This is the iPhone software that I use exclusively to read, reply and search twitter while on the go. What I like is you can use multiple accounts, easily read messages sent to you, read messages that you’ve sent (to make sure you don’t repeat yourself). The software also integrates with the iPhone camera and GPS (new in 1.3 pro) so you can share pictures on Twitter and search for users near your location.
Twittelator Pro is one of the first iPhone apps that gracefully makes use of copy and paste in a way that’s intuitive and useful. Tap and hold a message to receive a menu allowing you to copy the text from a tweet. Open a new twitter message and click on the paste button and your test is copied to the message. But there’s more..
The Twittelator Pro 1.3 update adds an additional color scheme (raven – aka black) to the the 3 existing schemes for a total of 4 different color layouts (blue, gold, purple, black).
New options screen features in 1.3:
- Auto Update Locations from your iPhone GPS to Twitter
- Load up to 200 tweets at a time
- Clear image cache

Another new feature is auto preview of images that other Twitter users have posted to the Twitpic site. No need to jump out to a web site to see if the picture is something you want to view (an amazing number of twitter users send photos of the meals they are eating).

The hidden power of Twitter isn’t sending rants and raves to your friends or self-promoting your latest accomplishments. What Twitter really excels at is providing a real time peek at what the hot conversation topic of the moment is.
Within desktop applications like TweetDeck you can view tag clouds which contain the most popular keywords that people are twittering about. Twittelator Pro 1.3 now has built in searches for hot topics which let you instantly look and see what people are talking about online. This method of search is eery and in many ways has replaced my news watching and random web browsing.
