As a long time user of Ilium Software’s fabulous program eWallet, I was one of the many who couldn’t wait for them to bring the program to the iPhone. They brought it, I loaded it…and then I hit a few syncing snags. :-(

But with a bit of tech support I am glad to say that eWallet is now up and running - and syncing flawlessly - between my iPhone and the Windows portion of my MacBook Pro.

Read on if you’ve been having troubles, too…

The problem I was having was that I was receiving an error when I would try to sync to XP through VMWare. I had the latest version of eWallet installed, and as instructed I had also installed Bonjour.

But when I open eWallet on my iPhone and on the computer, I would get an error saying that “eWallet cannot detect any Apple device. Please make sure that your Apple device is connected to the local network [it was] then open eWallet on the device and press the Synchronize button [I had].”

Ilium’s tech support told me to do the following:

1) Re-install Apple’s Bonjour service under Windows XP.

2) Install our latest desktop update.

3) If you keep getting “No Apple Devices Detected”, you may need to change
your VMWare network connection from “Shared” mode to “Bridged” mode.

It was number three which fixed my problem…hooray!

So now, instead of having to manually enter my hundreds of saved cards in order to enjoy eWallet on my iPhone, I was able to sync them over my WiFi network directly from my XP partition to iPhone - and vice versa.

Now I’ll never have to worry that I won’t have a password or account number handy when out running errands or when I am not near my laptop. Having eWallet on my iPhone is one of many readons that I am able to confidently use the iPhone as my main PDA. :-)
