Apple is slated to hold a 10 a.m. PDT MacBook event today. Nobody knows for sure what’s being announced but speculation has been wild that a slight re-design of the MacBook and MacBook Pro line could be on tap. Gizmodo posted what may be the most revealing photo yet with a spyshot of what claims to be a 2008 version MacBook Pro. Engadget also has a spyshot showing the outside of the case. If accurate, the new MacBook Pro will have a rounded and thinner case. Bottom line? Lots of rumors. No solid consensus of what is going to be announced. Catch a live blog of the event at the link below starting at 10 a.m. PDT.

Daring Fireball has already released a large set of new specs and features that are alleged to be real. I think Gruber’s got some credibility. He was even the first to call the event on the 14th…

By the way, are any of the reviewers here pressing “Buy Now” as soon as the button is clickable? Or queuing mindlessly in front of the Apple Store to buy the new ones? I know I am…

It will be interesting to see what Apple introduces. Bigger specifications without additional functionality will be nice but probably not exciting enough to get me to order right away.
I’d love to use a MacBook Air but the pricing is way too high for what’s included. I’m also not keen on the lack of DVD drive.
If any of these new devices include Blu Ray (which doesn’t seem to be rumored as strongly) then all bets are off..

I am nervously awaiting news on a possible new Air. If there is one, I might be tempted.
Wayne and others have talked about how the air is priced too high for what’s included, but I can honestly say that I would buy mine again. This is the first laptop that I have brought with me everywhere, and it has all but replaced my MacBook Pro. If Apple makes an Air with a faster and larger hard drive without raising the price too much, then I’m going to have a very serious internal debate…

I just bought a G4 PowerBook for my daughter, Amanda, for $250. Its running Tiger, but that’s fine. Interestingly enough, its got Office 2008 on it, so she will at least be able to write reports and stuff.
For $250, for 867mHz, 512MB, 40GB, with a ton of software, its not bad… It should also work well with the iPod she wants for Christmas…

Ok, not the super radical I was hoping for, but still awesome stuff from Apple. I like the all metal unibody’s and glass multi-touch trackpads. Would have been nice for them to make the trackpads function as secondary LCD displays though.

I have to admit that I am thankful nothing truly radical was announced – especially my dream MBAir. Now I can sit back satisfied until the next announcement go round…
