A shoe that powers your iPod and charges your phone while you walk

Telecommunication company NTT may soon have a solution to your need for a mid-day iPhone charge. Would you believe they have developed shoes that produce an electrical charge and power an iPod just by walking. So far they have only been able to produce 1.2 watts of electricity which is apparently enough to keep an iPod playing (assuming you don’t stop walking). They are working to boost the juice to 3 watts so that you can power your mobile phone. This is still in the planning stages, but if all things work as they hope you might be able to slip into a new power generating pair by 2010. No word on how they plan to snake the power cord from your shoe to the phone – power pants anyone?
