Can I let you in on a secret? Buying in a retail cell phone store is about the most expensive place you can shop. Take for example the new pink Blackberry Pearl (8110) that AT&T just released. You can walk into the AT&T store wait for two hours while 15 people in front of you pay their cell phone bills, argue about late fees and demand to see the manager and pay $149 with a 2 year contract. Then you can fill out a rebate form and wait three months for it to be rejected to get $50 back making your cost $99. Or you can visit Amazon.com and select the exact phone. Pay .01 without any need to send in a rebate form. I’ve bought all my phones for the last 5 years through Amazon and found them to be the cheapest and most convenient unless of course you enjoy hanging out in cell phone stores with a bunch of deadbeats paying their bill.
Amazon – AT&T Oyster Pink 8110 Blackberry – .01
Amazon – AT&T 8820 Wi-Fi Blackberry – $99 (AT&T charges $249 for this after rebate!)

I like Amazon and have used their cell phone stores a few times, but recently their offerings for Sprint are pretty weak. It’s disappointing since albeit all the problems with customer support and limited phone selection of Sprint, I still like Sprint most for its good reception (at least in my area), loud and clear voice quality, and cheap/fast/expansive data coverage. Amazon on the other hand offers good deals on other carriers as Wayne suggests, and I will go to Amazon without hesitation over other web stores.

does this work if you already have AT&T? (And a corp discount?)

Heck, I’d just wonder if it works if you are already an AT&T customer, with or without corp discount. I’ve seen the Tilt for new customers for a really low price, but as an existing customer it seems the best I can do is a refurb unit for $150 if they are ever available again. I’d consider resetting my contract by 2 years, but not signing a new one and switching everything over – that just seems like an unnecessary hassle.
