Brightkite is a social networking service that allows for placing yourself in various locations for the purpose of interacting with other friends who may be nearby. The iPhone App lets you use the GPS to place yourself on a map, post photos, create notifications when friends are nearby and use threaded messaging. This version requires iPhone 2.1 software. Brightkites also supports virtually any mobile phone where you can send in updates via text message.
