If you’ve always loved the Blackjack form factor but couldn’t stomach the poor battery life – this new Samung Epix is worth a look. Test Freaks have given the new smartphone a going over and pronounce it worthy. This Windows Mobile 6.1 phone sports a 320 x 320 screen and 2 megapixel camera (they have a few test shots to demo the camera). What’s noteworthy is the new optical mouse that responds to finger movements in much the way a touchpad would. Unfortunately there’s no built-in GPS and the screen has problems with washout in the sunlight. I asked the guys there how the battery life was and here’s what they say:

Seems fine to me, gets the rated times, I only charged it once in the week I was testing it, and I had bluetooth on most of the time and I played with wifi a bit as well.. I personally like it quite a bit

Samsung Epix SGH-i907 gets reviewed at Test Freaks – (available for $99 at Amazon)

    “Unfortunately there’s no built-in GPS…”

This is absolutely untrue. GPS is built-in and works very well. It’s better, as a matter of fact, in acquiring and holding onto satellites than any other phone I’ve owned with GPS built-in. I did find, however, that I had to download AT&T Navigator before Microsoft Live Search could find it (Google Maps worked right away). Navigator installation must complete the software set-up of the GPS system.
