Vendors love rebates. They know a large number of people fail to complete the forms. Even more people don’t read the small (microscopic) print on items like cell phones and fail to meet the qualifications for the rebate. Website Slickdeals is reporting that CPG (Continental Promotion Group) has filed for bankruptcy protection with assets of $1 to $10 million against liabilities of $10 to $50 million. CPG processed rebates for the likes of Activision, Acronis Software, Bed Bath & Beyond, Canon, Citibank, Costco, Home Depot, Logitech, Motorola (Surfboard Modem), Smith Micro (Anonymizer), XM Satellite Radio. Many vendors are recommending that you NOT cash any rebate checks (because they will bounce) and if you have not yet filed the rebate, to return your item to the retailer and inform them that the price it was sold at is no longer valid.
