Still having trouble deciding what to get the budding techie on your list? You know the one…the youngster who is fascinated by your fancy feature phones, the teenager who has discovered text messaging and Facebook, the young entrepreneur who wants a way to keep in touch with the office when she isn’t able to be there; these are just some of the people who might like to receive a Palm Centro.

Newly introduced for the holidays, Sprint is offering the Centro in olive and the absolutely gorgeous rose. Both phones have slightly rubberized paint, which makes them feel soft and grippable at the same time.

The holidays are always a busy time, and Centro lets users keep in touch with friends and family with voice, text, IM, email, web — even using Facebook for Palm, which is pre-installed on the new Centro holiday colors. Facebook for Palm lets users connect with friends, respond to messages, upload photos and videos, receive status updates, browse friends’ profiles and send out new friend requests — all right from their Centro. And with Google Maps’ new My Location feature, Centro knows where the user is and what’s close by, so customers can find nearby restaurants, get directions, or see updated traffic reports.

Users can shoot pictures or videos and send them to friends, or use the built-in MP3 player and take tunes to go. The new Olive green and Vibrant rose Centro smartphones have 128MB of available memory (twice the storage of the original Centro for Sprint) and the ability to add up to 4GB more with a microSD card (sold separately), so there’s plenty of room for playlists, photos and videos. Users can also watch Sprint TV channels, such as CNN mobile, FOX Sports, The Weather Channel and Disney Channel.

The keyboard seems best suited for those with nimble fingers, but with a bit of practice anyone can master the tiny keys.

These pictures hardly do the rose color justice; it is delicious!

Sprint offers quite a few highly competitive voice and data plans; and if you are in the position to upgrade or add a new line, $79 is a steal for this highly capable smartphone.

I like exploring new tech; I don't like trying to decipher jargon, nor do I like being talked down to. I figure that you probably feel the same, and that's why you're here. Welcome! =)

    Thanks for the contest.

I would love to get this for my daughter. She is currently using a Motorola Q, and she isn’t interested in the additional power that the WM platform has to offer. Her brother got a centro after she chose the Q, and she was rather disappointed she didn’t wait and choose the centro too.

I am not interested in the palm OS in the least, but I completely understand the attraction to the simple yet quite capable platform.

My daughter would love to have one of these updated ones, ’cause more memory is always a good thing.

    Thanks again,
    Clark

I have the Sprint Mogul, and no way would I replace it with the Centro. I just wouldn’t give up my WM 6.1. I want the new Touch Pro, but I’m not eligible for an upgrade yet.

My next door neighbor Kelly and I text each other all the time; jokes, dinner plans, check up on each other. She’s on the Sprint network too, so it’s totally free. She also happens to be my coworker and one of my best friends. She calls me Will, and I call her Grace.

Two of our other friends just got their Centro’s a couple weeks ago. We’re all on Sprint and in the loop with Myspace and Facebook, but Kelly still has the cheap flip phone with no features that she got when she signed the Sprint contract. This would be an awesome upgrade for her, and if I gave it to her, maybe she will stop texting me so much and come over more often.

  • SpencerAR

I have a good friend, Mike, who has a 2-3 generation old Palm phone on Sprint. I think the Centro would make a great X-Mas gift for him.

I had a Pam 505 before I switch to WM. Nevertheless, I am the only one, or at least I know among my friends, using two devices, one phone and one PDA. With this Centro, hopefully, I may be able to consolidate my device into one. Will I be the one?

  • AlanG

If I win the Sprint rose colored Palm Centro smartphone, I would use it to replace my Sprint BlackBerry Curve 8330. Yes, email and browsing might seem better to some on the BlackBerry, but the inability to work with Office files in Documents To Go is a total deal breaker. The Palm OS really shines in the productivity suite area.

I have been drooling over the Centro since I first saw it advertised. I currently have a Samsung SCH-u520 which works great, but it’s not a smartphone. I also have a Palm M500. So when, I mean if I win I will combine the M500 and the Cell phone into my new Palm Centro! I LOVE Palm products. Thanks for the chance.

‘Got Sprint, ‘Got Fusic, ‘Got Palm, need to ‘Get Smart

    …with a Centro.

  • mchinsky

This would be for my wife. Everybody jokes that she has the absolutely most basic phone ever. Has no dataplan, not even a camera.

Lately it is only charging intermittently and she’s always checking her email at home (obviously has no email on this super cheapie phone she has)

We are already on Sprint so no problem there and I’ve been a Palm evangelist Since the Treo 270 and have been responsible through my company for purchasing probably 60 Treos in the last 5 years.

The ultimate reason why I should win….

    Drum roll…

My wife’s name is the same as the color…Rose

  • LindsS

If I had this Palm Centro, I would probably use it to replace my aging Treo 700p. I may give my wife a chance to have it first since she likes the full keyboard on my phone but not the bulky size and since the Centro is much smaller then the 700p she might just say yes.

  • mchinsky

    LindsS.

    I have a 700p, and unlike previous Treos, this one won’t die…

I believe there are 2 problems with replacing a 700p with a Centro:

1), The keyboard is darn tiny on the Centro. As you know, the 700p is about as small as a keyboard can get and still be usable, the Centro will upset you if you are used to typing significant text on your 700p

    2) I don’t believe the Centro supports Sprint 3g, whereas the 700p does, so all data functions will be much slower.

  • kenneth2009

I have a 700P and I would love to get the new Centro color for my wife who
now has the original Centro in red. The Centro was her first smartphone.
Before the Centro she never cared much for internet surfing or listen to
music on her other phones. She loves it. I would love to win the new color
to give it to her for Christmas.

  • jwstreo

I would give this Centro to my wife. She won’t admit it, but she’s very jealous of my Treo 700P, and I’d love to be able to share a common calendar with her… She still uses a paper calendar, and a little pay-as-you-go cheap phone.

    Thanks for the give-away chance!

  • justcurious

The new stickier gel keys on this Centro sound like just the ticket for me to enter text. And the 128 Mb of memory make it a worthy compliment (successor?) to my Palm Zire 72S.

    Thank you!

  • http://mike.karrmedia.com mikekarr

I’d use this phone to replace a plain old Razr for my poor sister who broke her Blackberry Pearl.

  • alex_mathews

I would probably replace my 700p, since I’ve been wanting a more pocketable phone.

  • karahepp

I would be so excited to replace my 2-year-old palm treo 700wx. It definitely needs to be replaced with a centro.

  • Btrfly9IRL

this phone would be for my husband. and it would replace his old old old sprint katana flip phone.

i already have a centro that i have been enjoying since may and he needs to be upgraded!

  • jonlybonly

My wife would get it. She has resisted the Palm Treos because she finds them too bulky for her small hands/purse/pocket. But when I made her hold the Centro in the store one day, she said, “now there’s a phone I could love!”.
I’d be jealous of course (mine’s an old 650) but she deserves to move up to a smartphone!

  • Katie

This lovely phone would be mine, all MINE! My husband has all kinds of gadgets from work so it’s high time I could compete by replacing my pretty but simple Samsung phone of some sort. Especially now that I finally gave in and we have text messaging!

  • CallieSink

If I won this Centro it would be for my husband. I have a 755p and love it; he however is still using a Sanyo from the dark ages i.e. no text, web camera etc….can you imagine!!? We have been Sprint customers for 7 years and love them…..so please help me upgrade my out of date husband.

  • Dee Tee

If I won this Centro, it would replace a TX, or perhaps be its companion. The backup TX might well go to my spouse to use with Peck’s birdwatching application as the app needs an SD slot for birdsongs and photos and won’t work on the Z22 which keeps personal data segregated from the office-issued Blackberry.

  • kmoj78

    my name is kerry,
if I can get this device it would be for my dad. he needs this for the simple reason that he is an entrepreneur including ownership of two hair salons. we are in atlanta, georgia and things aren’t going well with money right now. so I think it would be best for him to have this so he could be more succesful. as of right now he has a simple sanyo mm-7500. no insurance or anything. in very bad condition. and I have a motorazr with a cracked screen. but he deserves it so if you could I think he desrves this phone. and it doesn’t matter the color because he will be satisfied with having a better phone for his job. theres always cases. :-)

  • WPMJJ

If I won it would be my best friend (for the past 31 years) David who would benefit. Dave is slow to adopt on tech things and generally requires that I hold his hand the whole time. He NEEDS a PDA and an integrated phone would be the best way. His memory (like mine) fades more each passing day, he needs alarms to try to get where he needs on time, texting would be SO much easier with a full keyboard… IT would be a wonderful Christmas present for BOTH of us.
