Intuit has changed course in their fee arrangement for TurboTax 2008. As you know I’d written that the license agreement for TurboTax 2008 was changed to reduce the number of extra federal tax returns that could be printed for free. Previously users were allowed to print up to 5 federal returns without any additional fee. Starting in 2008 Intuit had announced plans to charge $9.95 for any federal return over the first. The company played this off as a fee saver for their users because they also included federal e-filing for free – however the uproar appears to have caused Intuit to reconsider. Purchasers of TurboTax 2008 will now receive 5 free federal e-files and unlimited federal return preparation (up from a limit of 5 in prior years).
