Sprint’s BlackBerry 8350i with Nextel Direct Connect goes live

You’ll recognize the Sprint BlackBerry 8350i as nothing more than a BlackBerry Curve. But for the poor diehard Sprint Nextel Connect users it’s their first look at an advanced BlackBerry in many years. Prior to this they majority of BlackBerry users on the legacy Nextel airwaves were bound to the ugly 7520 (or the brick shaped 7100i) – both which featured trademark ugly antenna. Enter the 8350i which ditches the antenna and brings all Nextel Direct Connect lovers into the new millenium. Featuring Wi-Fi, bluetooth, GPS, Nextel Direct Connect, 2 MP camera and included 1GB MicrSD. The specs make no mention of “broadband speeds” or Sprint TV so I’m guessing that you’ll be relegated to the slow Nextel data pipes with this one. Pricing is $149 after rebates and 2 year contract for new subscribers.
