BeeJive just released their 1.1.1 (beta) update to the popular JiveTalk universal instant messenger client for BlackBerry. This update primarily affects those of you on a 4.6 OS (BlackBerry Bold) by adding in VGA capabilities and inbox integration. The second update is the one that I’m most excited about. Out of the box BlackBerry devices have instant messaging capabilities via separate free downloads. Unfortunately that means running several separate (memory hungry) applications. BeeJive’s JiveTalk takes all your IM addresses (AOL, Google Talk, ICQ, Jabber, Windows Live, My Space, Yahoo!, IBM Lotus Sametime) and runs them from one interface. Until now you needed to openJiveTalk to view your last received messages. This update places the last receive message inside your normal BlackBerry message inbox and adds a new message icon to the BlackBerry home screen. If you’re trying this update and are not seeing your last IM message in your inbox, be sure you also go into your Messages – Options – General Options – and set “Hide Filed Messages” to “NO”.
