YouTube Preview ImageKevin over at JKOnTheRun has a nice video spotlighting a new downloadable software service from Phoenix, called Hyperspace. Essentially what this program does is allow you to significantly speed up the boot process for your computer or netbook.

HyperSpace lets you access the Web without having to wait for Windows to boot up. Power your computer and instantly surf the Internet, check e-mail or watch the YouTube video of the day. And when you want to switch off, just close the lid and off you go. But HyperSpace is much more than just instant-on.

Perform your Web-based activities in HyperSpace to preserve precious battery life. You can use your notebook up to 30% longer if you compute in the HyperSpace section and use Windows only when absolutely necessary.

It’s as easy as pressing a button: hit ‘F4′ and you’ll be in Windows to work on the things you need, like editing that Powerpoint presentation or creating a spreadsheet. When you’re done, press ‘F4′ again to switch back to HyperSpace and Windows automatically goes to sleep.

And with HyperSpace, you’re always connected wherever you are. It jumps on the best available network, so there’s no more need to configure your laptop when you’re on the go.

This ground-breaking technology is moving PCs into the appliance realm. Just like your smartphone, your computer is now always on, available and energy efficient.

Available in two versions (for an annual fee), this new program is unique because it can be downloaded to compatible computers and allows your computer to boot quickly into a Hyperspace environment where you can quickly connect to Wi-Fi or 3G as well as use a Mozilla based web browser. The deal killing unfortunate aspect of this technology is that it carries a recurring annual subscription. The Dual Hyperspace (no virtualization) is $39.95/yr and the Hybrid (for laptops with virtualization enabled at chipset) is $59.95.
