Scrabulous, er Lexulous is back on Facebook!

For the longest time, one of my favorite reasons for using Facebook was that I could play a live version of a certain very popular word game with friends from all over the world. Scrabulous, or “Scrab” as many of us called it, was the perfect online alternative to pulling out a Scrabble board, because you could play with friends and strangers without the need to ever be in the same room, country or continent. It was addictive, it was fun, it was a terrific time-waster! And then Hasbro jumped all over the guys who had put the game on Facebook, and it went away…a total bummer to me and over 500,000 other people who also played the game daily. The Scrabulous guys briefly tried to sell us on their new game WordScraper, but the scoring system on that game was too weird, our old stats and games didn’t transfer over, and it just wasn’t as much fun.

The good news is that Scrab Lexulous is back! This morning I had the following email waiting…

Hi there!
We are pleased to inform that your favorite word game is back on Facebook as LEXULOUS! The games that you were playing, your statistics, as well as your archives and messages have been carefully preserved.
LEXULOUS is TRULY WORLDWIDE – which means US/CA users can play with their friends based in other countries.
So come on in and feel free to start new games with old friends :)
Warm Regards,
The Lexulous Team
P.S. – The Lexulous mobile version shall be launched shortly!

Wasting no time, I took a look…and sure enough, my old Scrab games, which had cruelly been nipped in the bud when the online game suddenly went away, were back!

Oh man…I’ll bet that productivity all over the world comes to a grinding halt!

If you haven’t given this game a try, then do! If you want to play a game against me, then join Facebook, add me as a friend, and get in line… ;-)

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford
