Circuit City Calls it Quits

Posted on 16 January 2009 by

While the sale details aren’t all clear yet, MSNBC has posted that Circuit City is indeed liquidating and going out of business.  Is this a sign of things to come for the brick and mortar stores?

I fondly remember the first time I went into Circuit City many years ago, how it was awash in electronic gadgets.  While they weren’t always the cheapest, they did have decent prices in competition with most local stores.  I’ll miss you Circuit City, even if no one else will.

Now…what do you want to get at the sale?

Ah yes…. I remember walking in to Circuit City to look at all the PDA’s and cases/accessories during the early 2000′s. I also remember walking into Franklin Covey, CompUSA and (lesser known) CoZone.

It’s a shame – the web is great for deals, but nothing quite beats checking stuff out in the flesh.

    What’s next… BestBuy?
