In what could be the opening salvo in a mini-price war among cell phone carriers, Sprint subsidiary Boost Mobile launches their unlimited calling, texting, , walkie talkie, picturing and web browsing plan today. For only $50 per month with no contract, no extra fees (except sales tax where required) you get unlimited phone calls on the Boost ( fka Nextel iDen) network. You will not be able to roam onto any other carrier but Sprint’s iDen (formerly Nextel) airwaves. Boost is nationwide so coverage mostly won’t be a problem – though their data service relies on the slower iDen network. With competing carriers ripping you off with offering unlimited text messaging plan add-ons as high as $20 per month and most competing plans starting at $40/mo for far fewer minutes — assuming you have good coverage, this could be the perfect plan for your teenager.
