If reports on the Wikipedia site are correct, the long running Microsoft Flight Simulator series may have been heavily impacted by the recent round of announced Microsoft layoffs. According to Wikipedia:

On 22 January 2009, it was reported that development team behind the franchise was being heavily affected by Microsoft’s ongoing job cuts, with indications that the entire Microsoft Flight Simulator team was being made redundant.

While the development of this popular series is likely spread around different parts of the company, if the entire team was let go, as one rumor speculates, then that can’t be good news for the franchise.
