Random Shirts has a whole slew of their funny (and some not so funny) t-shirts on sale for $5. These are mostly 50/50 cotton/poly so they’re more suitable for gym wear than family heirlooms. If you think you can do better than the slogans you see on their site, enter the People’s Choice Contest where a top selling user submitted original design could win $100. Here’s a fun “do it yourself” project that protects your lunch from the invisible thieves that troll corporate refrigerators worldwide. A touch of green paint and a box of lunch bags is all you need to protect your lunch. Simply dab some green on the lunch bags. Insert sandwich. You’ve got something that might look like the sandwich that’s already in your refrigerator at home. Now if they’d only come up with something to deter soda theft. Prune juice soda can labels? Editors Note: This review appears both here on Gear Diary and on Clinton Fitch (Dot) Com! As I have stated many times throughout my reviews here and at Clinton Fitch (Dot) Com!, I travel quite a bit for my “day job”. Just so everyone is clear: American Airlines Executive Platinum isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. It means that you have had a lot of time on airplanes. But I digress…. Understanding this, anytime I am able to find a tool that makes travel easier I’m automatically going to be interested. Once such tool has been Spb Traveler. Traveler was introduced in June 2007 and quickly became one of my must have applications while on the road. Traveler had everything I needed: Weather reports for multiple cities, a trip planner, currency converter, unit converter and a tip calculator just to name a few items. It was everything a traveler needed in one application. Building on the success of Traveler 1.x, Spb has now released version 2 of the application and it is terrific. The all new user interface draws its inspiration from Spb’s other applications – Mobile Shell and Online – while providing you all of the tools that [...]

HTC has just released a brand new Touch Cruise, which is the first device to use a new technology that they call HTC Footprints, “a new feature that allows people to capture special moments and places in a whole new way.” This device’s feature set will most likely be very interesting to those who have basically replaced their GPS, camera, and other portable devices with their PDA phone. Although if the 3.2 megapixel camera on this device is the same as some of the other HTC cameras we’ve seen, I can’t honestly imagine that many people replacing their cameras with it… With HTC Footprints™, mobile images are taken to the next level by allowing people to tag their pictures with a variety of additional information. There are a number of scenarios that you could imagine for this: · Family historians can capture audio clips with each image, effectively capturing in the moment thoughts and feelings. · Leisure travelers can take advantage of the included GPS chipset and tag each image with its exact coordinates, as well as rename that image with the location it was taken. When a person goes back through old images, they find their life’s moments chronicled [...]

Not long ago, I had the opportunity to review the Hammer Storage Morespace external hard drive. That was an incredible drive, with just an amazing amount of storage. My one complaint about that fantastic drive, however, was the size of the drive. I mean, really, it takes up a sizeable chunk of my desk. So, you can imagine my excitement when Hammer Storage recently announced the new Morespace Portable Drive. All of the storage at a fraction of the space. Continue reading on Gear Diary …

For those of you who are really into this Twitter thing, here’s a cool shirt that will make you either the envy of everyone at your next Social Media conference or the laughing stock at your gym. The shirt is available in any color – so long as you like black. Sizes range from small to “this is the year I’m really going to lose the weight” XXXL. If you’re not one of the cool kids using twitter here’s what it’s all about. Twitter is a free service where you send insanely short (140 character or less) messages to tell other people exactly what it is that you’re doing. Yeah, it’s kind of dorky and most of the people on… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

Despite all of the myriad limitations that Apple has imposed on the device (crippled Bluetooth?, no background processes?, no cut-and-paste?) I continue to love my iPhone. Every device has its trade-offs and I can deal with the ones that come with the iPhone. There is one that could have been a dealbreaker for me… Battery Life. While I may not be the typical iPhone user (whatever “typical” means) I find myself having to charge it at least once a day if not more. Yes, I use it that much. Fortunately there are a host of external battery options now available for both generations of the device. The newest might also be the most interesting. PhoneSuit.com has just announced their new Mili Power Pack. While, on first glance, it appears similar to other products that wrap around the device, it offers some significant differences that make it stand out. For example –… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

I’m not a big fan of hosting parties at my house. For one, parties mean that I must pick up the house prior to any guests arriving. And since I’m typically in bed only slightly later than my kids, I’m always trying to subtly suggest to my liquored up friends that maybe it’s time to hit the road. Here’s a way to give people the incentive to head home without having to drop all sorts of awkward “yawning and looking at my watch” type hints. Prezzybox has this 4 player shocking quiz. Coax up to four of your friends into playing. See how well they do with the 600 multiple choice questions that come with the game. Each player holds a device that… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

In what could be the opening salvo in a mini-price war among cell phone carriers, Sprint subsidiary Boost Mobile launches their unlimited calling, texting, , walkie talkie, picturing and web browsing plan today. For only $50 per month with no contract, no extra fees (except sales tax where required) you get unlimited phone calls on the Boost ( fka Nextel iDen) network. You will not be able to roam onto any other carrier but Sprint’s iDen (formerly Nextel) airwaves. Boost is nationwide so coverage mostly won’t be a problem – though their data service relies on the slower iDen network. I know it’s mean, but a tease is all you’re going to get from me at the moment! The last couple of days have been absolutely amazing, as far as UPS deliveries go. On Monday I received a Nokia N85 loaner, and on Tuesday I got an HTC Touch HD loaner… I can’t even begin to express the excitement I have felt for the last two days as I have opened the boxes and started exploring the phones. I mean, I can go months sometimes without having access to a truly exciting new mobile device. For two truly awesome phones like these to show up while I am still quite satisfied with the HTC S740 I’ve been using? Let’s just say that this has been an abnormal week. These are the times when being a gadget reviewer is so awesome that I can barely keep from doing a happy dance. Instead, I just stay up late at night configuring. So what’s all the fuss about?… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

If you’ve ever had the secret urge to become a graffiti artist but have held back because permanently painting the sides of bridges and trucks isn’t your thing – rejoice. Here’s an electronic spray can that emits UV light onto a special 24″ X 24″ sheet of UV light sensitive material. Included with the kit is a aerosol-style can that runs on two AA batteries (not included). The graffiti can be sprayed onto the special light sensitive sheet (included) to create artwork that fades from view within an hour. For all MSI Wind users out there, MSI updated the U100′s BIOS yesterday to version 1.0B. The fixes include: 1. Fixed some CRT monitor garbage issue. 2. Update Microcode. Please note that you will need to create a bootable USB stick to flash the Wind’s BIOS, and that the contents of the 1.0B.zip file should be unzipped to the root of the USB stick in order to run flash.bat. Happy flashing! Continue reading on Gear Diary …

This interesting frame is a cool way to display your (tiny) photos. Although it may require you to cut away your 4 x 6 photo to fit its 3.5 x 5 maximum size – the end result will be worth it. You can rotate your photo as it’s held suspended midair by the magnets encased in the top and bottom of the base. A light illuminates the photo so that you can view the picture even in low light conditions. All we need now is a digital rotating frame that loads photos via Wi-Fi!
