February 12th will mark what would have been Charles Darwin’s 200th birthday had he found the fountain of youth. In celebration of the evolutionary biologist’s special day, several forward-thinking companies are offering Darwin themed goods, or they are throwing birthday bashes that look like a ton of fun.
So far, I have found the following…
Charlie’s Playhouse is hosting a birthday bash in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Too bad it’s not a little closer Texas, as I would love to go!

Proporta is selling a limited edition wallet and a 3G iPhone case that should be a hit; each are made of black pebbled leather with contrasting stitching, and each is embossed with Charles’ signature…
The Darwin 200 Leather Memory Wallet

The Darwin200 Leather Memory Wallet is lovingly handcrafted from the same high quality black leather, and features attractive lime green lining as well as secure storage space for your memory and phone SIM cards (not to mention credit cards and cash). Offering everything you’d expect from a high quality wallet, plus some intelligent little extras, this exclusive product is beautifully designed. And with a print of Charles Darwin’s signature on the back, it’s eyecatching enough to make even the great man himself look twice.
Darwin200 Alu-Leather Edge Case (iPhone 3G)

The Darwin200 iPhone 3G Alu-Leather Edge Case is handmade from the finest quality leather, and features Proporta’s trademark ‘Screen Saver System’. Using a sheet of rigid, lightweight, aircraft grade aluminium to guard against crushing and impact shocks, this protective iPhone case is tailored to the exact specifications of your device, ensuring a perfect fit. Stylish and clever, it’s ideal for Darwin enthusiasts, or just those who want to make sure their iPhone is always kept safe and sound.
According to DarwinDay.org, there are 419 events scheduled in 36 countries and at least nine events scheduled in Texas. Way to represent, Lone Star State!
Do you know of any companies offering Darwin items that I’ve missed? Send me an email, and I will add them to the list.
