Was going through my feeds and came across this story on Crunchgear about this post on the Gmail Blog. The folks at Google have made some really cool Gmail stickers that you can put on your laptop. They also have some keycap stickers that help you remember the keyboard shortcuts in Gmail. To get them, you send a self addressed stamped envelop to the address in the post. I think I am going to get some of these! Continue reading on Gear Diary …

The instructions for this tongue-in-cheek remote control state: 1. Point remote at subject 2. Push any button on remote 3. Hope for the best Among the control buttons are: stop hissing, stop scratching, catch mice, land on feet, retract claws and use litter tray. Now if only they’d add an “empty litter box”! Fellow Windows buff and columnist, Mary Jo Foley had a very interesting column today. It seems that Microsoft is going to release six (6) different Windows 7 versions or SKU’s when the operating system finally hits the streets later this year or early next. That’s very close, if not exactly how, Vista was released just over two years ago. The decision, as you may guess, is causing quite the uproar with many, yours truly included. Here’s an interesting and affordable solution for those of you who travel and are looking for a highly portable laptop stand that won’t take over your entire briefcase. The Light Laptop Stand at $9.95 couldn’t be simpler or more affordable. It’s two pieces of metal with rubber end caps to prevent scratches. The metal’s bent in such as way that it creates an ergonomic laptop stand suitable for desk use. Improved ventilation and keyboard access are two of the key benefits.… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

Yes this is the old style Slacker 8GB. People complained about the headphones and awkward button placement. They say the device is too big. On the other side of the fence I’ll say that Slacker will let you fill all 40 channels of this device with different types of music. If you’re a fan of 80′s music, Jazz, Hard Rock, etc – you can have a separate channel of music saved to your Slacker. Every night hook this gizmo up via Wireless and the channel is refreshed with new music. Just like magic. But that’s not all. For a monthly $3.99 fee you’ll get the ability to skip as many songs during playback as you want (the free version only allows… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

Simplicity is sometimes the hardest thing to describe. Honda’s entry-level subcompact Fit is simplicity at its best, but something I find difficult to put into words. In 2007, the Honda Fit came in as the new entry-level offering from the automaker. Previously it had been offered globally as the “Jazz” where the little five-door hatch is more of a perfect “fit” into the international mainstream.… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

One of the nice things about the Plantronics 640E Bluetooth Headset is that it will simultaneously connect two different bluetooth equipped phones. Referred to as multipoint technology, this handy feature allows those of us with two phones to use one headset to make or receive calls. The headset offers up to 15 hours of talk time, comes with a pen-sized recharger/carry case (uses a AAA battery for on the go refreshes). This is a re-certified product with 3 month warranty. Here’s a scale design that makes monday morning weigh-ins just a little more palatable. The platform you stand upon is designed to look as if it’s a box of chocolates. As you might hope for in a scale designed to look like a box of chocolates, the weight capacity generously allows up to 330 pounds. Cost is $95 from Uncommon Goods. (Note: Actual scale has a different face with no numbers. Instead there are sayings like “go ahead”, “indulge yourself”, “you deserve it”). Visit Uncommon Goods for more details. Order now, and the site guarantees Valentines Day arrival. Lonely? Wish there were a plastic doll that would talk nicely to you from desk while tethered via 4 foot USB cable? I don’t either but this may be perfect for the super geeky or super lonely. Select from either “lovely” or “cheeky” messages. The former sends you constant reinforcement during the day, while the later is decidedly NSFW (not safe for work) and guaranteed to be a little saucier. Requires a PC with Microsoft Windows XP and an Internet connection. Mr/Ms Perfect USB Companion – $4.99 Continue reading on Gear Diary …

Several users on the BlackBerryForums site are reporting that their 4.5x BlackBerry 8330 devices are showing a “Send MMS” option on their message menu. Lack of an ability to send photos from Sprint BlackBerry’s to other phones has been a long time beef of subscribers. This new feature finally seems to have appeared on 4.5x OS devices without any need to load the latest Sprint software upgrade. Some users are reportedly able to send pictures using this link while others are complaining that while the menu option is visible they’re receiving errors when sending photos. Unfortunately it appears that receiving MMS on a BlackBerry still requires navigating to the awkward Picturemail site on the phone. BlackBerryForums Continue reading on Gear Diary …

Don’t you hate when you see something go on sale for $69.95 ( 1/2 of what you paid!). I just noticed that my Skooba Laptop Backpack is on overstock sale. I bought mine right at the beginning of summer and used it when I biked all over town with my 15″ MacBook Pro and my work gear securely inside. Now is your chance to pick this up for a steal. The selling point for this backpack is comfort. The back and shoulder straps are fully padded which makes for extremely comfortable usage (crucial if you are going to spend more than 5 minutes with a backpack on your shoulders). More pictures on the next page.… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

Have you played any of the Sims games for the Wii? The game is a fun role playing adventure that makes you the star of the adventure. Most of the game is customizable, from the clothes your character wears to the house you live in. In the MySims Kingdom you travel through various lands of the kingdom, each with its own unique theme. There’s a Kingdom’s Captial, Rocket Reef, Cowboy Junction and more. In addition to meeting other big headed Sims, you can build houses, bridges, fences and contraptions like windmills and water pumps. I’m not a big believer in drinking at all before driving. However there are situations where you may drink a little more than you you should – and here’s a solution to help you decide whether to drive (Tip: If you have to test – don’t drive). This works better as an accessory for party givers. Stash it in with everyone’s keys and before they leave let them “qualify” by blowing into the BACtrack. Price is about $15 lower than elsewhere. There are six replaceable mouthpieces included and you can buy a 50 pack here. PS – If you’re buying 50 packs of mouthpiece covers for the S50 – seek treatment today. BACtrack Select S50 Breathalyzer – $44.99 shipped Continue reading on Gear Diary …
