metro pcs unlimited blackberry.jpg

Finally a BlackBerry smartphone has broken into the ranks of prepaid phones in the United States. Regional carrier Metro PCS is offering local unlimited BlackBerry service for a flat $50 per month with no contract. For that price you enjoy unlimited voice, text, picture, and BlackBerry email. The BlackBerry Curve 8330 is available for purchase in Greater Miama/Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Detroit, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento. Included in the $50 per month is BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) with the beefier BES (Blackberry Enterprise SErver) available for a modest additional $10 monthly. For now this deal is only great for those of you living in the MetroPCS service region. Let’s hope other carriers pick up this trend toward no contract BlackBerry unlimited!

PS – the teensy print sez - Available only in Dual-band (PCS) Only Markets which include FL, GA, CA, and select areas in TX and MI. Not available in NV, PA, NY, MA and other parts of TX and MI. In the MetroPCS Home Extended Areas, data access is not currently available.
