Facebook updated my profile yesterday to the new site design. I’m far from a Facebook expert but so far what I see seems so – well – 2008.

Of particular annoyance is the continuing inability to import any more than one RSS feed to your profile (even using Notes limits you to one and only one RSS feed). In this day – don’t people often have multiple blogs? I’m hardly prolific but I have personal, company, organization and Geardiary that I’d like to import. Yet Facebook still stubbornly thinks that one RSS feed import is enough.

Wall to wall posts are still annoyingly awkward to reply to and why in this age of Twitter can’t I reply to a Facebook friend within Facebook comment and have that also automatically forwarded to Twitter?

Friendfeed does this very simply with an “also reply via Twitter” checkbox which sends out a reply that also appears in my Twitter feed.

To reply to a Wall-Wall I still need to exit my real time main feed (Facebooks big upgrade feature which is admittedly cool) and travel to someone’s wall to write a reply.

And that reply doesn’t show up in my real time feed. Maybe this is some esoteric security/privacy option that I’ve set up wrong. Damned if I can find a way around it.

I do like that I can automatically pull in feeds and other sites. I’m sure this isn’t new but in my excitement to check out Facebook I’ve just discovered them and stopped pulling in my Friendfeed which was duplicating a lot of items.

Facebook needs more of these feeds – and I should be able to pull data from multiple accounts of the same type if I want to. These should have been updated with more capacity.

The Facebook update seems more like a clean coat of paint than something that makes Facebook into a social media leader.

Sites like Friendfeed have had these options for at least the last year — and Facebook is JUST adding them?

Color me disappointed.
