The Sonystyle store has the relatively new (yet not seen in public much) PRS-700BC eBook reader marked down from the normal $399 to $349. This price drop makes the new pricing $10 cheaper than the Amazon Kindle2 and within about $100 of the $250 I think wholesale clubs like Sams and BJS are selling the older style Sony PR500 eBook reader for.

Time to buy a Sony instead? Maybe if you absolutely have to have a backlight. But consider that all your content would still need to be cabled to transfer it the eBook reader – meaning no spur of the moment airport waiting lounge book purchases. The real beauty of the Kindle (Both 1 and 2) is wireless delivery and the ease with which you can access a wide variety of books while away from your house or office.
