The distinguishing feature is that the charger runs on regular AA batteries that you can purchase anywhere and use to charge up a dead iPhone. I’ve taken many trips into the city when suddenly my iPhone is flashing the red low battery light — and it’s only 2pm. Having one of these portable chargers would allow me to find a pair of AA batteries at a drugstore and re-charge. The manufacturer claims 2 to 3 hours to fully charge an iPhone or iPod and it charges any docking iPod including the iPod Classic, iPod Touch, iPhone 3G, Nano and Mini.
