Talk Mail Pro is an iPhone application which accesses and reads aloud your IMAP email accounts so you can be busy doing something else. It’s a useful program for anyone like me who finds it increasingly difficult to read the tiny email letters while driving a car at 85 miles an hour on the highway. Setup of the software is a snap and I like everything about the program. It’s fast to access mail, the voice is understandable and the menu controls intuitive. Swipe right for the previous message, left for the next message, double tap to archive and triple tap to trash. I’ve got a few more screen shots on the next page.
The lag to open your emails is very short. I never waiting more than 5 to 10 seconds. The program supports multiple email accounts though they all have to be IMAP. If you’re using a system that isn’t IMAP based one of your options is a forward all your emails to a mailbox that supports IMAP such as Google Mail.

Multiple email accounts are supported from the main screen:

Several options such as whether the software should read dates or mark messages as read can be set.
In my testing the voice was nearly perfect so I did not make any changes to voice settings. However if you find the pitch or speed aren’t to your liking they can be changed.

I must say that I was a bit amazed at Talk Mail. It quickly and accurately read all my mail in a very understandable voice. Most impressive is that it all happened “out of the box” and I didn’t have to tweak anything.
Talk Mail Pro is on sale for $5.99 and for anyone who wants to hear their emails instead of squinting to read them – this is well worth it. Great accuracy and understandability.
If you’re not sure whether this is the program for you, try Talk Mail Lite which offers the same application but limited to two months of free service.
